meadow and grass has been selectively cut, or left to grow.

of the lake are fine walks, but also sheltered fishing spots.

The lake has an overflow
flume, presumably to cope with surface run-off in a major storm. The
catchment area above the flume is now predominantly suburban, so high
flows can be expected at reasonably long intervals.

marks the upward end of the lake, connecting with the areas of woodland.
