The much fought-over North Hill. The bus lane, shaded in green on the right of the picture, has deprived shoppers of street parking, and has allegedly caused many businesses in this road to lose money. Several "For Sale" signs are still in view - but some have closed altogether. the view is to the north, with the white whale-like structure being the ASDA supermarket near the railway station.

The impressive town hall dominates this view of the High Street, facing west. Jumbo (the water tower at the end of the street,) and wide pavements are notable features. The stonework, as pedestrian paving, street surfacing or bollards, was an expensive and controversial part of the traffic-calming measures in the High Street.
