The camera is turned towards the main street Dunwich village, a largely Victorian settlement. The green garage lies next to a footpath used to survey the position of the cliff-top.

The beach, huts and boats at Dunwich, looking north. The beach had been lowered by storms, but the mini-cliff had been filled in by fishermen needing to launch their boats.

Rapidly-eroded beach area at the entrance to Dunwich beach. Human trampling on the cliffs above and behind this hut is quite a feature.

800Dunwichclifftoppath.jpg (160340 bytes)

This is the site of the pantometer line at Dunwich. It lies directly below the large burrow on the cliffs. In fact, it continues the line of the footpath, (now closed but showing in the hedge on the cliff-top) from the main street.  This point has been used for a survey line to measure the height of the cliffs. This will be an easy site to return to, and will be used to survey how much Dunwich is retreating at this point.

800Dunwichboat-south.jpg (109257 bytes)

Beach fishing boat and launching rails. This is the most heavily-used part of the beach, being used not only by the fishermen, but next to the busy beach cafe (renowned for its fish and chips) and the closest access to the beach for visitors. Human trampling is evident on the beach and the cliffs nearby.
