Evening was gathering as we
arrived in Mers-les-Bains, but the rain of the day gave way to late
sunshine. The southern part of the beach was covered in fresh rip-rap. |

The shingle beach
was clearing of holidaymakers, many of who presumably used the
temporary canvas tents lining the beach. The architecture of
period four-storey sea-front buildings was novel to my eye! |

Across the estuary from
Mers-les-Bains is the resort of Le Treport, making full use of the
undercliff to squeeze in a town of large three or four storey houses. A
cliff railway gives access to the cliff top; it is free but there was a
long queue! |

Some climbing did
generate a view over the town and back towards Mers-les-Bains.
As the evening a busy restaurant trade developed. |
