This road from GC 200 to
Ayacata continues up the Mogan valley for a mile or so, through a
patchwork boulders and of pines. |

Soon the road
begins its forest course, winding up through zig-zags of
increasingly severe gradients. |

Above the woodland
a lay-by affords views to the west over the lower part of the
valley and Mogan itself in the distance (right). |

valley must only be enjoyed whilst stationary! |

Trees re-appear,
but are only sparse in their extent; fire perhaps may be culling
their growth, as seen from the crash barrier damage. |

The climb is eventually
rewarded by a vista to the west over the Presa de las Ninas Recreation
Area. The area drew many visitors on this Sunday, but the reservoir was
well drawn-down. |

Above the Presa de las
Ninas Recreation Area the valley gullies into Vee and pines do
their best to cling onto the vertiginous slopes. |

Nearing Ayacata, see in the
centre and on the right, the ground slopes become hummocky and are
punctuated by large boulders. |
