The Arinaga wind
farms as seen from the hills, interspersed with industry and
also with agriculture .. and never too far away from people's
homes. |

At the coastward
end of the industrial area are examples of older or experimental
turbines, such as the vertical axis on the right. |

On the left are
further lines of turbines to the south of Pozo Iquierdo, where
there is a technology centre specialising in renewables. In the
centre a range of older designs that may possibly have been
experimental in their day , whilst on the right are lines of
masts on agricultural land. |

The turbines are organised
in lines to face the prevailing north-easterly wind, and occupy the
coastal plain, not the mountains or the adjacent sea. |

Although the
turbines are placed within the industrial zone, and the
agricultural areas that abut it, the photos show there is a
landscape of intimacy with residential areas of Pozo Iquierdo
also. |

Not all of the
agricultural land is in production and some, as seen here, will
need substantial reinvestment .. or be swallowed up by industry.
