The base of the Orwell Bridge can be inspected from the southern shore of the Orwell Estuary, on the B1456 road to Shotley. It is a popular lunch-break spot, for its view, wildlife and, when the tide is full, is dangerously near to flooding! |

Downstream the river opens towards the marina at Wolverstone, on the right, and Felixstowe docks, to the left. |
